The Center was founded as a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Maine, USA, in 1999. The Center received its IRS determination as a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization in 1999.

Promote research on the common stone sculpture and rock art heritage shared by evolving humanity, which can provide a spiritual cornerstone for building a sustainable global society in tune with the Earth and Gaia.
Disseminate research that deciphers Upper Paleolithic and earlier protolanguages and decodes the religious symbolism that informs Upper Paleolithic art throughout the world.
Disseminate research that identifies and honors the art and symbol produced by Homo habilis, Homo erectus, archaic Homo sapiens and their hominid peers throughout the three million years of human evolution.
Sponsor and fund this OriginsNet website as an international cyberspace forum and gallery-without-walls for identifying the earliest human art and religion and sharing it with the world.
