This is a flow chart from Notes Toward an Early Acheulian Stone Tools Logic Model: Constitutive Operations and Analogies of the Soul suggesting how Early Acheulian tool makers appear to have applied the thematic elements of the 2X4 matrix of shape oppositions. Illustrations of each artifact are given in this gallery. Figures referenced are from T. Wynn. (1989). The Evolution of Spatial Competence. Urbana, IL: University of Illinois Press. Basically, I have taken his illustrations and re-analyzed them as representing a schematic flow with each level having an increased number of 'tiers' and facets. For more details on this see Notes.
