If this is indeed a representation of a mammoth, this confirms dating of some materials from HW/Pit Dip as at least Upper Paleolithic. Well dated records of mammoths in the British Isles run from 125,000 to 40,000 years ago, with poorly dated records extending the range back into the Wolstonian (Elster/Riss) and possibly into the Main Devensian down to 15,000 years ago, after which it was extinct.
