HK19A and 19B, Har Karkom, Israel, c. 128,000 to 50,000 BP c. greater than 100.000 to 24,000 BP / t) hk19b #7 obv hyena dog

From the white stone circle, in hutfloor, HK19B, artifact #7. Placed on heavy weight paper background. Size: 15 cm. long by 10.5 cm. maximal distances. Obverse of object in previous photo.

Tentative interpretation (James Harrod): Intentionally engraved artifact; zoomorphic. If the coloration is to be read along with the flaking, this might have been intended to represent an African wild dog, with a flopping left ear, or some other canine-like creature. There is a chip removed at the nose. It might have been meant to represent a hyena. In any event it appears to be one of these scavengers. Thus, in the stone circle appear to be pieces flaked to represent an array of species associated with the hunting of game, the predator cat, the scavengers and the prey animals, horse, elephant, warthog, waterbird.
