Bhimbetka, Auditorium Cave, Madhya Pradesh: Acheulian Petroglyph Site, c. 200,000 - 500,000 BP / t) bmbcrncoracctTentative Interpretation (James Harrod): Here we look at Chief's Rock head-on toward the North passageway opening. It may be seen as a split off 'flake' from a massive roof fall. As a 'flake' the metaphoric quality of Chief's Rock increases. The highlight arrow points to a remarkable natural or artificial flake removal which, if our interpretation is valid, represents the 'elephant's eye'. The dotted line highlights the S-curve of the 'trunk'. Photo © James Harrod or as otherwise noted.
