Bhimbetka, Auditorium Cave, Madhya Pradesh: Acheulian Petroglyph Site, c. 200,000 - 500,000 BP / s) bmbcrtailacct

Tentative Interpretation (James Harrod): Here is the far right side of Chief's Rock. If it were intentionally flaked at the front to represent an elephant, it might have a tiny tail--which one also sees on some Early and Middle Palaeolithic stone sculptures proposed as 'elephants' (or 'mammoths'). There doesn't appear to be a clear 'tail', though there is a slight suggestion of one, indicated in highlight circle. There also appears to be an exfoliated area or intentionally flaked area (?).
