Comment: François Bordes' illustration intended to typify the 'Abbevillian' type. "Abbevillian handaxes from Olduvai; 1, primitive type; 2, more evolved type". However, note previous slide (h) which suggests that at least at Olorgesaillie both larger and smaller 'nosed' handaxes occur at the same site and time period.
