5/2000 Jan Evert Musch concurs with Benekendorff that this is the second major bird image in the piece. He suggests that in this overall sitting bird there appear to be a small bird facing left in relief in the center of the sitting bird's body and possibly other bird images in the cortex and flake negatives that appear under rotation. The flake scar that forms the sitting bird's head is also circular and suggests an egg. The whole white cortex turned 180 degrees is like a bird-of-prey with open beak to devour its prey.
OriginsNet responds: The bird looks pregnant with an egg in its belly. |
